The Key to Keeping Your Healing
Sickness and disease are a yoke of bondage that the enemy of our soul will try to put on us if we do not understand our rights and privileges in Christ Jesus. In order to walk in divine health and maintain our freedom from sickness and disease, we must be rooted and grounded in what the Word of God has to say on the subject. The truth, which is the Word of God, must take root in our hearts, thus enabling us to maintain the manifestation of healing in our physical bodies.
Sickness is the result of an oppression of the devil: "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy." (John 10:10) Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. (1 John 3:8) This includes both sin and sickness. The devil inflicts us with sickness and doesn't like it when God's Word brings healing and destroys his works. The devil will always try to reestablish his infliction by stealing the truth of the Word from us.
The Bible says the devil is a liar and a deceiver, and there is no truth in him. (John 8:44, Genesis 3:13) Our agreement with the lies of the enemy is what empowers him. When the devil comes and brings with him symptoms of sickness to try to convince us that we are not healed, we must resist his lies with the truth of the Word of God. It is the truth that sets us free. (John 8:32) If the devil can cause us to focus on the symptoms and pain instead of the truth of God's Word, he can convince us to believe his lies. We are held in bondage through deception, and we are set free by appropriation of the truth, through faith.
We must stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made us free. The Bible tells us to submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from us. In order to resist the devil, it is essential to know in our hearts that it is God's will that His children walk in health and be free from sickness and disease. The continual act of sowing the truth of God's Word in our hearts will enable us to stand and resist the devil when he comes to deceive us.
The key then to keeping your healing is to renew your mind. (Romans 12:2) Get the Word of God into your spirit. As the seed of God's Word is sown in our hearts, we will speak it with our mouths. Jesus said, "Out of the abundance of the heart, our mouths speak." (Matthew 12:24) Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." What is resident within our hearts (which is what we believe) is inevitably what we speak.
We must watch over our words with vigilance to see that they are life-producing words. Begin to develop the discipline of watching over the words of your mouth. Words are a creative force. Hebrews 11:3 says, "The worlds were framed by the Word of God." The whole universe was created by the spoken Word of God. Words are spirit and they create life or death. In John 6:63 Jesus tells us, "The words I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." Every time you speak, you are creating a manifestation of what is being spoken in the natural. We must make a habit of choosing our words wisely.
The Bible tells us, "If you confess with you mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9,10) Every day we have the opportunity to choose life or death with our words, according to the Word of God.
Stay rooted and grounded in the Word of God. Keep your prayer life strong. Don't let the enemy steal your victory. "Resist the devil and he will flee from you." (James 4:7)
